A 61-year-old Danish man was sentenced to 30 years in federal prison Thursday for sexually exploiting a Buchanan County girl through Facebook. Kai Lundstroem Pedersen pleaded guilty in September to producing and transporting child pornography and for extortion against an 11-year-old girl.

The Buchanan County Sheriff’s Department is warning rural residents of an increase in home burglaries. Buchanan County Sheriff Mike Strong said in a Nixle alert that residential burglaries have been reported in rural parts of southeastern Buchanan County in the last couple of days.
